Legal immigration to the US is becoming ever more difficult even for highly skilled professionals and wealthy businessman. As one can read in this forum the US administration is extremely tough especially against immigrants from Asia who are going the legal route. Unfortunately, they are not as tough when it comes to illegal immigration. One often wonders why wealthy, educated and skilled professionals from countries such as India wish to take so much risk, endure so much trouble and invest so much money and effort to move legally to the US if there are other large and wealthy countries in the world where they would be more welcome and appreciated than in the US. A good example is Germany. This country is one of the wealthiest countries in the world with population over 80 million people and free access to the European market with 500 million consumers. Living standard in Germany favourably compares to that in the US whereas Germany scores better in areas such as public healthcare or social security. Business climate in Germany is improving year by year despite the lack of skilled workforce in many areas and aging population. Many people from the so-called third-world countries who do not qualify for the US green card would easily qualify as highly skilled professionals in Germany. So, why not try to emigrate to Germany instead? Germany’s aging population is not just an opportunity for highly skilled professionals from around the world but also for healthcare personnel, business people and many others. Many so-called middle class Germans (owners of small and medium-sized businesses) will be retiring soon and are looking for successors who they could pass their business on as they have no family member to take over from them. Just realize that 4-5 million Germans will retire over the next ten years. If you are a medical doctor, nurse or other healthcare professional, electrical or mechanical engineer, computer specialist, biologist or other natural scientist, or experienced business person there might be an opportunity for you to start a new life in Germany with much less hassle than you will have to endure to secure legal entry to the US.
