L1-B extension

Hi, My L1-b visa and I94 are expiring 30 Apr 2010 and my employer filed extension on March 30 but haven't received any response from USCIS. If i do not hear any results from USCIS before 30 Apr 2010, is it legal to stay & work in US? Or should i leave the country before 30 Apr? Please advice.
