  • Hello to Everyone,
I have been viewing this site since January 2008 and I learned a lot here so I 'm sharing my own experience hoping it would help others too.
January 2006 - I filed application for naturalization with the USCIS in San Francisco.
April 2006 - I passed the interview and citizenship test
June 2006 - I wrote to the USCIS inquiring about the status of my application
October 2006 - USCIS replied that my application is waiting for FBI background check. In response to my subsequent letters, I received letters in November 2006, March 2007, October 2007 and January 2008 from the USCIS, all saying that the FBI background check still has to be completed.
February 2008 - I wrote to FL Laura Bush and VP Richard Cheney asking for help to expedite the FBI Name Check. I also sent FOIPA inquiry to the FBI and received "no record" reply from them in the same month.
March 2008 - Cheney's office replied that they forwarded my inquiry to the FBI.
April 23, 2008 - I got a letter from the FBI referring to my letter to Laura Bush, saying they already forwarded the name check result to the USCIS HQ in Washington, D.C.
    April 26, 2008 - I received letter from USCIS for 2nd fingerprinting
    May 3, 2008 - 2nd fingerprinting done
    June 16, 2008 - Received notice of oath-taking schedule
    July 15, 2008 - Oathtaking
My advice to others is don't give up and follow the advice of people in this blog. Thank you all for your wonderfull ideas.
Note: I also wrote to Barbara Boxer for help in March 2008 but her office replied "Our office cannot unduly influence the decisions of these various agencies." I don't think you can call asking the FBI to do their job properly "undue influence". So don't try asking the Speaker for help.
