    An affidavit of support is a form that someone you know in the US fills in on your behalf. It states that for the first three years, they will look after you financially if you cannot find work (so you won't be claiming unemployment benefits). If you have one of these it makes your interview an awful lot easier.

    Hi mate, was just wondering on one of things you mentioned in your post about interview day in London... I am from London and have got through to the next round of DV2009, just waiting for an interview date. But you mentioned an affidavit of support or something like that.. What is that? And do I need one? Does a company have to promise me a job before I go out there?
