    Travel while AP renewal is in process

    My currently valid AP expires on Dec 5, 07. I have filed I-131 for a new AP on Oct 10. Is it safe to travel to India and come back before Dec 5? Please share your experiences.

    AP and non-machine readable passport

    I am planning to return on my AP. But my Indian passport is not the machine readable one (unlike the new ones). Will there be a problem to re-enter? As per my understanding non-machine readable passports need a visa; so, is AP like a visa?
