Work Eligibility documentations

Hello,

I'm sorry if this isn't the right board to ask
for this kind of information. If so, redirect
myself to the right one, please :)

What kind of documentation do I need
to show proof of work eligibility in the
United States?

I read that some INS module (don't
remember which one, sorry) would suffice,
but how can I get that (or any other docs
I need) while I'm in my home country (i.e.
not in U.S.A.)?

I obviously have a valid foreign passport.

Thanks in advance,
Lorenzo

Depends on your immigration status in the US. You also need documents issued in the US along with your passport. If you have a status that permits employment (H1B, L1, F-1 OPT, etc.) you will need to show the original approval notice. If you are adjusting to permanenr residence, you will need to show EAD employment authorization document. If you are already a permanent resident, your green card will do.

Of course if you are a US citizen you can show your passport.

What is your US immigration status?

Well, I really don't know. I mean I've
never been in USA before. What I was
asked is to show proof of work eligibility
so that I can send that proof via snail mail
to US.

I browsed the US embassy "in Italy" site
and I saw that probably I just need a
visa.

Could you "confirm" this? :)

Thanks!
bye,
Lorenzo
