Work Authorization Question

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi everyone,
My fiancee has passed his interview.
QuestionS I have now about him is :
1) IS HE ALLOWED TO WORK IN US ONLY AFTER COURT MARRAIGE IS DONE.
OR IF HE CAN WORK BEFORE THE MARRIAGE TOO.
2) WILL HE WILL BE GRANT A WORK AUTHORIZATION OR WORK PERMITT @ THE AIRPORT.
3) WHAT DO WE HAVE TO APPLY FOR TO GET HIM WORK PERMIT
4) HOW LONG IT NORMALLY TAKES TO GET HIM A WORK PERMIT & CAN HE STILL WORK BY THE TIME HIS WORK PERMITT IS IN PROCESS.
THANKS

1. If he was granted Work Authorization at the POE, then he can work. Otherwise he can apply at a local USCIS office for an Employment Authorization Document which will allow him to work while on a K-1. If he has neither, then he is not allowed to work.

2. Most POE's do not grant work authorization - except JFK.

The best option is for your financee to enter the US on K-1, get married very quickly and then file Adjustment of Status (I-1485) to become a permanent resident. Along with filing I-485, he can also file for an EAD which will be approved in 90 days or less and will allow him to work upon receipt while his I-485 is pending.
