With EAD in hand work for 2nd employer

I have a question that I recently applied for I-485/I-765 & I-131. If I get my work permit, can I work part-time for another employer based on the work permit? Will it be legal if yes?

Wait - if your part-time is for a secondary employer, are you also working for your primary employer with your EAD or do you have H-1B as primary?

Get H1 Extn or Use EAD to work

Should I apply for 3yr H1 extn or use my EAD to work. My H1 8thyr is valid till Aug'2007. Please advise me if I should/can apply for 3yrs extn (140 approved and 485 pending since Feb07) OR simply switch to EAD without bothering for H1 status.

Which is better option? Please advise me ASAP. Thanks for hekp in adavnce.

If you use EAD you will not be on H1 status.

I'm glad I asked you what your primary was.

If you use EAD, you will no longer be in H-1B status and will have to notify your primary employer of this fact. In most cases, it should be okay. However, read page 2 of the following document for advantages/disadvantages of maintaining H-1B status:
