Will studying abroad affect my application for US Citizenship?

I am currently a US permanent resident with Korean citizenship.
I plan to apply for US citizenship around June 2017.
Both of my parents are US citizens. (My mother recently became one.)

However, I plan to study abroad in Canada for either the Fall 2016 semester or Spring 2017 semester. (Generally around 4-5 months) I'd be coming back to the states after the semester is over, of course.
I've been told by my mother that it doesn't look appealing in my application if I do this though as it looks like I have an intent to reside in Canada. (I do not. I am just interested in a program offered at a certain university.) Is that true? Will studying abroad for 4-5 months affect my application for US citizenship?

I see no issues with you studying in Canada for one semester.

You should be fine but dont do it often. as a matter of fact you could even fly back to the states for week ends.....
For one semester, dont worry.
