When does the INS check?

At some stage of the I-485, the INS checks if you still work for the sponsoring employer.
If not you will get a RFE. Do you know when they check? Is it before the FP or at the time of approval?

I do not know how they check, however your employer needs to pay federal and state taxes on your behalf, SS contributions, disability insurance. They can and may trace any of these.

They may also trace the applications for unemployment benefits to find people without a job.

I think it depends, i.e., at the IIO\'s discretion. If the company you work for has done layoffs in the past, the possibility to get an RFE increases.
