Has anyone received "welcome letter" after I-551 temporary stamping?
I never received one but IIO was telling that there should be something called welcome letter that follows I-551 stamping. Does anyone have any clue about it?

whoa nelly

Welcome Letter from USCIS. Hard to beleive man that they would have time for that

sounds like they still do that

may be randomly. IIO was saying after I-551 they technically send out welcome letter. This is the first time I heard that.

Dont have time?!!!! so what the 6000 employee are doing there? I guess 8 or 9 qualified employees only can do more quality and faster work.

BY MR. KHANNA:
2 Q. Mr. Pierre, what is your recruitment
3 process for adjudicating officers? Do you
4 advertise, recruit internally, all of the above,
5 none of the above?
6 A. It varies. We use a number of methods to
7 recruit adjudicators. The most common one, of
8 course, is we use the administration centers to help
9 us advertise for positions. There is the general
10 government website for positions as well. For entry
11 level positions, we try certain methods. One of
12 them is you have to take the test and you have to
13 score a certain number of points in order to be
14 considered. One of them is if you're an outstanding
15 scholar. If you have a GPA of let's say 3.6 or
16 above, you will be -- your name will be put on a
17 list.
18 Q. This GPA refers to college grade?
19 A. Yes. Or you could be in the top 10
20 percent of your class, one or the other. Also if
21 you're a veteran with injuries, especially in
22 combat, you would get so many points. People with
89
1 The Purple Heart, for example, get so many points.
2 And all these folks are put on a list. And from
3 that list, we can use different OPM rules to decide
4 which ones to hire.
5 Whichever one we hire or select for
6 hiring to go through the security process, they have
7 to go through a background check and the background
8 check is extensive. They check for criminal
9 records, creditworthiness and so forth and so on.
10 If they make it through that step, then their names
11 are put on a list and we can select from that list.
12 Q. How long does the background check take
13 on average, do you know?
14 A. It has improved lately. It varies. It
15 depends on which day you ask.
16 Q. Months, weeks?
17 A. Months.
18 Q. Do you have a high turnover rate for
19 adjudicators, a lot of people leave, how does it
20 work? Do you have any statistics on that?
21 A. It depends. I don't have exact
22 statistics, however, a lot of the folks who are
90
1 hired as -- various people are hired as temps,
2 temporary workers. We hire some people as term
3 workers and we hire some permanently as far as
4 permanent could be. So, these are the three main
5 ones. Also we have folks who are seasonal. We are
6 trying to work with that where we have seasonal
7 workers as well, for example, teachers. We call
8 them WAE. Teachers who have three months off may
9 want to work those three months.
10 Q. WAE, what does that mean?
11 A. I have to look it up to make sure, but
12 it's an acronym that refers to a seasonal worker.
13 So, these are the different tools that we use to
14 recruit employees.
15 Q. Okay. My question was do you have a lot
16 of turnover rate? Do people leave amongst the
17 permanent employees?
18 A. None of them are permanent employees.
19 Most of the term employees, yes, and many -- it's
20 more difficult depending on the center where you
21 are. In California and also in Dallas, it's harder
22 because you are competing with the private sector.
91
1 And a GS-5 doesn't make that much. It's 22, 23,
2 $24,000 a year with a college degree.

Don't forget the USCIS is a government entity, and subsided by it as such.
What I find more interesting, is that these adjudicating officers are making probably around twice as less than most of the applicants (most of them in IT). How would one think and feel about it?

gheewalabhai888,
Yesterday we had our stampping..., I do not know whether we would recieve such a letter but at least the IIO at the counter had courtesy enough to welcome us orally....

Hi
A friend of mine got the letter while his wife did not receive one. His wife was primary on the application and also they did not have any address change in the last 4 years

with INS i gues we cannot predict what/why they do things differently for the same application
Thanks

so, what I am getting at is welcome letter is

nothing more than a formality. it is by no means a step closer to generating plastic card. is that right? the amazing thing is we hear all about rd, nd, ad, fp, courtesy copy, I-551 but never about welcome letter! it must be something that is less important.

welcome letter

Hi Gheewalabhai:
IIO also says the same thing to me when I called to inquire about the plastic card. She took all my information and then said I will be receiving a welcome letter in mail. Later my online messge was updated saying that "we have received your inquiry blah blah" then I got a letter in mail saying the same thing that this letter is in response to my inquiry. I assume it is the welcome letter. My passport was stamped in Dec 2003. Still waiting for plastic.
