Hi Called the NSC this afternoon and got through to an IIO. After telling me that my case was pending and still not assigned to an officer, he was nice enough to tell me that he would check my A file location. After a few kestrokes on the other end. He said that there is a 2nd request for a visa petition on my case that was pending. He also said that he is not sure if there is a 3rd request pending. He was not able to explain any of this to me or indicate how long this would take. Anyway, I just wanted to post this here in case anyone knows what this is about. I do not know what this is about. Please help ND 12/072001 485_1200

What it means is:

They sent the I140 connect request first time and they did
not receive any reply for 120 days and they have just sent out
another request second time and waiting.

This is what happned to me too.

My RD 12/19/2000.

They sent the first request on Dec-2001. No reply for
foru months. They sent out another Request to
COnsulsate, Chennai India on April end.
Consulate sent the case on May 30th. INS must have
received it during 2nd week of June.
Case assigned to officer on 24th June.
Approved on 2nd July.

Hi 5thYearNSC
First of all I really appreciate it that you are posting to this board even though your case is already approved. I want you thank you and let you know that I really appreciate this very much.

I did get information several times 3 months ago that the connection to my I-140 had not happened yet, but every time I called after that I was told that the connection had already happened. I was under the assumption that the connection has already happened. Earlier I had learnt from the NVC that My file was sent to Mumbai consulate.

For now I think it is best for me to assume that the connection has NOT happened.

For now my attorneys have filed a new I-140 at NSC and filed an I-824 at CSC where my case was first filed... both these are pending at this time.

My question to you is, did you do anything special by contacting the consulate or did the consulate act on its own behalf.

I have requested my Senator to start an inquiry on my behalf.

Any advice or recommendations from the guru will be highly appreciated.

Thanks a lot again.

I did not talk with any Senator nor with any COngressiona off staff.

I was only inquiring at Consulate many times since Feb.
I must have sent emails to at least 7 or 8 times.
They promptly replied for each email the following business
day.

Your Senator inquiry is good. But, I believe no matter
what you do, you have to wait for your turn.

Whoever is handling your papers must do a good job that
day. Or your papers are out of order and it takes
couple of weeks to months for simple issues.

If my case was not approved for CP, it should have
been approved in Dec'2001. Its about 7 months delay
ebcause of simple reason.

That's how INS works.

Sometime, calling them helps too.

I called few days before my FP expired. I told the IIO lady
my FP are expiring. But, she replied she can not do anything.
But, it might happened like this. Usually IIOs can send emails
to an officer after a case is assigned. BEcause at this stage
they know who is working on a case. She might have
dropped one like memo the Officer.

You are the best judge for your own case. Do what you feel
is necessary.

Thx
