What if the image was not JPEG format?

I doubt the actual entry will alert you if you're trying to upload a photo with the wrong extension, dimension or whatever ground for disqualification. That's what the validator and the instructions are for and they expect you to use them before you proceed with the real thing.

Why bother checking, just change you're picture to .jpeg if it's not in that format yet.
