I think Vermont is trying to get 140 and 485 to same processing time so they don't have to open the file twice. By next year you will see 140 and 485 processes together. May be within a year of filing......

But,
The processing time for I485 has moved only 2 months since 3/15/2003 and now USCIS is processing cases received on and before 1/15/2002. Based on this fact, it would take 5 years for I485 to be processed from now on if nothing happens.

I calculated the days VSC moved the processing times for each form between 09/01 and 09/15 and it appears that while other types of cases have moved significantly, I-140 and I-485 did not..
