Hi,

I'm planning to invite my mom here to the states. She can only speak hindi and if left alone she definitely will feel nervous and not at home. I was wondering at the consulate will it be possible to be there with her when she is called for the interview? Will I be allowed to answer the question? Will the consulate provide a translator? Can I just stand there next to her?

Any answer will be a help.

Thanks.

No - only persons who are appearing for the visa interview can be in the consulate.

You CANNOT answer questions on her behalf nor can you just be present with her.
Your mom can choose to have an interpreter for the interview. Ask for an interpreter when setting up the visa appointment. Consulate will provide it to your mom.
