My mother got DV 2011 and my father was the beneficiary. Both of them got their visa stamped on passport in last November and reached US on february. My mother got her green card normally , but in case of my father, an initial review is being conducted now ( as shown in case status in USCIS) . Its now two months past.
IN the case status it is said, that they are conducting background check if he had any criminal history or he might be a threat to US. Surprisingly he is a Muslim , carrying long beard and aged about 70.
I dont understand , why they are checking this now , not before issueing visa. He has not undergone any AP during the visa process. Anyone know, what can happen next?
