Hi, I completed 5 years as a J-1 Student sponsored/funded for 2 initial years by US Govt and I NEED to transfer to J-1 Research. I was told by International Student Advisors this would NOT be possible, even if I returned to my home country to apply for a new J-1 Research visa. Can anyone share his/her experiences in this case and how to work around?
The alternative I considered was to apply for a WAIVER but was also told the US DOS will DENY my waiver even I received "no objection" from my home country because of funding from US Govt. I'd appreciate your opinions on this as well.
