Most New Yorkers say they'll spend less this holiday shopping season, according to a poll released today by the Siena (College) Research Institute (SRI).

About 53 percent intend to cut back this year, up from 35 percent in 2007, the survey found.

When asked their reasons for spending less, 53 percent blamed recent declines in the stock market, while 41 percent cited concerns about the cost of heating their homes and the state budget deficit.
