Successful CP in mumbai on 19th nov 2002
We had our interview scheduled for 14th nov at 9:30am. We got the medical appointment at lilavati for the 12th at 7:30am. Arrived at lilavati at 7 in the morning. The person in charge, Manish( very very polite and extremely helpful gentleman), came at 7:30 sharp. He first gave us a general form to fill after checking our appointment letter and passport. After this form was filled we had to fill another form regarding medical history. This was a very simple form with simple yes or no answers. It hardly took 2 minutes to fill. After that blood sample was taken after which a small medical exam (eyes weight and height) was done. After that we went for the x ray and then after that we were given immunization for tetanus and MMR. After that we went for a complete body check up which hardly took 5 minutes. That’s it. We paid (they accept credit cards but for immunization ahve to pay cash we paid about Rs350 per person) We were told to collect reports the following day at 4pm. We went at 4 the next day but I did not get my report, as they wanted to do some additional tests. Manish told us to go for the interview, as this was routine. So we went on 14th and reached American consulate at 8:15am in the morning. The guard outside told us to come at 9:15 so we waited. However, we later learnt that there was a line outside for immigration interviews and we should have stood there. Anyways went inside at 9:15 and a lady inside told us to go to counter 10. we showed the interview letter there and we were told to wait. Our name was called at 10am and we went to window 12. There an Indian lady collected documents from us (employment letter on company letterhead, birth and marriage certificate copy etc) form 9003 was not asked. Please make sure to have at least 2 copies of each document. This took us 10 minutes and we were told to wait. At 12 in the afternoon finally our name was called and we went to window 9. There an American lady asked us to raise our right hand and swear that everything was true. We said so. She gave us a paper saying that we should come on any working day at 7:45am and submit the medical report and we would then get the visa documents that same evening. The interview took us exactly 1 minute. We left and after getting the report on Monday went at 7:30 Tuesday. We gave the report and were told to wait and finally at 11.30 the lady told us that since we had already paid the fees we should come in the evening to collect the visa documents. We went at 3 stood in line till 4 and finally got the visa documents at 4:30. all done.

Hello,

Can you tell us what was the reason which caused delay or some extra tests to be performed on you.

Any suggestions as to by which we can avoid this?

Thanks,

dinesh,
they look at ur reports and if they find anything irregular they have to do some more tests just to make sure that that everything is ok. This is good because that way ur medical check up is also done. There is no way u can avoid doing further tests. If u are in good health u have no reason to worry.
