Status Checking Question

Is there any difference in the information available between:

1. Entering Application Receipt Number on the Case Status Online web page.

or

2. Registering to create an account with USCIS, and then logging in and checking and setting up e-mail notifications?

Is there any difference in the information available between:

1. Entering Application Receipt Number on the Case Status Online web page.

Both of those are completely useless. The online status is never updated and, in some cases, never appears to begin with. For instance, my online status still displays "Case received and pending", with the last update date of 12/6/07. As you can see from my timeline, I've been a citizen for over 3 months. Don't even bother with it.

That's what I thought. Just wanted to check if the registration provided something worth the effort of setting it up.
