ok sorry if this is a stupid question, but i just don't know how the docs have to be assembled....do you put it in a clamp-binder, sheet protectors, clips, or punch it and attach it to a folder? do you use an index? tabs? separators?

if anyone could just put their 2 cents in and let me know how they sent their docs to USCIS, i'd really appreciate it.
thanks.

Had the same confused feeling last week when I assembled my I485/I130 package. Take a look at these websites first
http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/fieldoffices/scnational/index.htm#H
http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/fieldoffices/nbc/faq.htm#specificsteps

But then I found out the contradict statements. In the first one, it encouges people use two-hole fasten to hold package together but in the second one, it clearly states that "Please be refrained to use any fasten or staples".

So eventually I gave up using fasten(although I already pounch two holes on the top of forms). I used heavy clips to put forms and supporting materials together with checks and cover letter on the top. And then put different clipped forms(I485, I130...) into a pocket file folder. And I put a cover letter on the top of folder by using scotch tape.

Hope this help.

I would use paper clips, easy to remove if they don't want them, or keep if they do. I bet they hate staples as they scan the forms. At our interview, the forms were stapled so I guess they staple after they scan.
