Re-entry Permit Tricky Question

Just having a re-entry permit (REP) doesn't affect your continuous residence. You have to be outside the country for a long time for that. So, if you want, get the REP, hopefully stay out for less than 6 months, and you'll be fine for naturalisation.

Good luck.

The issuance of a reentry permit is irrelevant to your naturalization eligibility*. What matters is the amount of time you spend abroad, particularly if you spend more than 6 consecutive months or more than 12 consecutive months.

*of course, other than the fact that if your GC is canceled due to extended traveling without a reentry permit, you also lose your eligibility for naturalization.
