Hello:

I have a question. I became a naturalized US Citizen two years ago. Now there is a situation where i may have to stay in Montreal., Quebec for a two-three years. Question is, can i apply for Permanent Residency in Canada and be a US Citizen. I dont intend to become a Canadian Citizen as i want to maintain my US Citizenship.

Any ideas, thoughts are greatly appreciated. I am confused.

Thanks everyone.

If you are worried about potentially losing your U.S. citizenship then I am pretty sure you are fine. Remember, you'll still have to file U.S. taxes even as a Canadian resident

I am not sure what Canada's requirements are.

Thanks, JBF. So i will be fine even if i become a Canadian PR right ? Yes, i'll file taxes from there as well.

Though I am not an expert, that is my understanding. I think becoming a permanent Canadian resident as more about getting access to Canadian benefits (and paying Canadian taxes).

There is no fear in being a USC and a Candian LPR or citizen. I know people who are both without an issue.
