thanks WhyMe3200, gc_enroute and so_depressed for correcting me. I was mistaken. Sorry for the confusion.

'Data review' is the first stage, when the file is entered in the system. 'In process' is second stage. 'Certified', 'denied' etc. will come after 'In process' stage. As somebody has mentioned 'In process' is a very broad category and probably 80% of the applications are in this stage, it can take upto 1 year(I'm being optimistic that BECs will close in 1 year) for the file to be processed.

Could you please tell us on what day of the week your status changed from 'In process' to 'Certified'. I'm just curious to know if they do a batch load kind of a thing at the end of the week and upload new statuses or is it they update the status as it gets changed.

My online status changed from "In Process" to "certified" on Wed, 9/13/06, the congressman's office also confirmed the same. So I'm guessing (I'm not a programmer) that its either real time updates or daily end of day batch load . . . BEC only has ~340,000 records! How difficult can that be?

In my experience, dealing w/ the employer is just as difficult as dealing w/ DOL/USCIS. Besides being difficult HR is quite clueness re. immigration matters but call themselves "immirations specialists"!

your talk over "data review" status really make me nervous, because my status is "data review" now and my PD is may/2002! By the way, I received and responded 45 days letter, at least my lawyers said so.
I asked my lawyers and they said "data review" and "in process" have no difference. I don't eally trust those guys but what I am gonna do? they are hired by my firm not by me.

So I am curious that you guys really know for sure that "data review" is one step behind "in process" or it is your best guess? Is there any case that go directly from 'data review " to "certified" so far? Thanks.

Data Review is definitely one step behind In Process stage. As per online status page the sequence goes like this

1. Data Review - Your case has been entered into the BackLog System and is under review.
2. In Process - The case is currently being worked on or in the queue ready to be worked on.
3. Certified -Case has been Certified.
4. Denied - Case has been Denied.
5. Appeal -Case is currently being Appealed.
6. Withdrawn -Case has been Withdrawn.
7. Closed -Case has been Closed.
