Passport renew????

My passport is going to expire soon. My question is that do I need to use passport when I go to the citizenship interview??? And is it ok if I get my passport renewed through a law agent???

PS: I am AS8 green card holder.
 
No, You Don't Need To Renew Your Passport For The Citizenship Interview, You Just Need To Bring Your Greencard. That's The Main Requirement In Addition To That May Be Your State Id.

But The Decision Is Yours As Far As Renewing Your National Passport, You Just Don't Need To.

Can Renewing Your Passport Affect Your Citizenship Eligibility To Pass - Probably Not !

But Again The Decision Is Yours.

you required to show your passport upon citizenship interview...I mean even expired one.
usually the officer keep it to double check your trips out country ..if any of course.
I really don't know about ex-asylee situation ..same don't have any and other just lost it.
probably the officer make you sign an affidavit in the event that you lost your passport or never have one.
