I am here on J1 pursuing research. I have a passport that was issued in Hyderabad (while I worked there) and it has my temporary address in Hyderabad. My permanent address is in Ahmedabad (where I have an NRI account, home of parents, etc). I understand that I will need to send the affidavit signed by consulate in the US to three places: MHRD, Home ministry where my permanent address is, and the passport office. Can someone please clarify the following?
- What checks do passport office do for issuing the NOC? Do they want to see that you have a base at the address written on your passport (which is not the case with me)?
- Is it necessary/advisable to change the address on passport to home town?
Appreciate the inputs from members who have seen/been in similar situation.
