Need info about Sponsorship!

Hi,

I am on H1B and has a valid visa till 10/08.I married to US citizen last month. She worked for 3 yrs but left the job just before marriage. Can she still sponsor me even though she is out of job now? Can i do a self sponsporship?

Yes, as the intending immigrant spouse your income can be included as household income to meet the 125% poverty guideline for I-864. She would still be the sponsor. Her and your tax returns from the last year have to be submitted (3 years optional). You do not need I-864A (unless you have children immigrating with you).

Here's where it gets tricky ... you have to submit evidence that your income will continue from the same source after you become a permanent resident.

You can also consider using assets to qualify (need 3x the difference in assets between income and the 125% poverty limit to sponsor a spouse; although I have heard people raising concerns if using "only assets" to qualify and no income at all).
