Need Help for My Dad Greencard

Hi
I need some basic information. My dad will be coming here in a month and I would like to apply for his Green Card. What documents do I need to submit with his application and how long the whole process will take? Do I need a lawyer? He will be here for 6 months, would he get his GC in 6 months if not, could he leave the country and come back in few months when he his petition is approved? Please reply, your help is much appreciated. Thanks

- Check Payment in the amount of $ 355.00
- Completed Form I-130
- Copy of Birth Certificate (Petitioner)
- Copy of Marriage Certificate (Parents , required only for Father)
- Copy of U.S Naturalization Certificate


Package 2 : I-485 and Supporting Documentation
I-485 Packet Concurrent Filing Documentation Table of Contents
(Mother)

- Check Payment in the amount of $ 1010 ( I-485 Fees + Biometrics Fees)
- Completed I-485 form Application
- Completed G-325 A Form ( Used by the FBI for Background Check Purpose , needs to be accurate )
- 2 Photos
- Copy of intending immigrant’s passport Biographical Pages
- Copy of intending immigrant’s passport U.S Nonimmigrant Visa
- Copy of intending immigrant’s I-94 Card
- Copy of intending immigrant’s Birth Certificate
- I-693 Medical (Sealed) Envelope ( Needs to be completed by a USCIS Authorized Medical Doctor)
- Copy of intending immigrant’s Marriage Certificate
- Completed I-864 Affidavit of Support form Year 2008 Sponsor Federal Tax Return filing (Includes 1040 , Schedules , 1099 forms)
- Year 2008 W-2 Wage and Tax Statement
- Year 2007 W-2 Wage and Tax Statement
- Year 2006 W-2 Wage and Tax Statement
- Copy of Sponsor Employee or Cosigner Pay Statements ( 2 Months)

Two things, I am only filing for my father, my mom passed away. My father does not have a marriage or birth certficate, what should i do?

Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative,
I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status
G-325A, Biographic Information
I-864, Affidavit of Support
I-693, Medical Examination of Aliens Seeking Adjustment of Status
is this list right?

I do not need travel documents or employment card for him, so is that all I have to file. He does not have birth or marriage certificate so what should I do about that? Is there anything else?

You will two notarized affadavits from people who have witnessed his marriage in lieu of the marriage certificate.

For the birth certificate you will need two notarized affadavits from people who have witnessed his birth and are elder to him in lieu of the birth certificate and also need a Non-Availability of Birth Certificate from the local government .

One last thing, could I file all these applications myself or do I need a lawyer. Are these complicated forms. I have filed my own N-400 and understand the process. would it be hard for me to do it myself?
