Need clarification on "continuous residence" and N470

First question:

Regarding the residence requirements for naturalization, the INS website
(see the link below) states that an LPR must reside in US for 5 years with
no single absence from US of more than one year. It then says absences of
more than 6 months but less than 1 year shall disrupt the LPR\'s conitnuity
of residence.

My question is: What exactly would break the continuou residence
requirement for naturalization, 6 months or 1 year absence(s)?

Second question:

According to the N470 instructions (see the link below), an LPR with
an approved N470 still have to reside in US for at least one-half of
the period of 5 years. So, that means the ONLY relief the LPR is getting
from the N470 is the 6 months/1 year absence restriction? Which also
means the LPR with an approved N470 can stay abroad for as long as 2.5
years without a negative impact on naturalization? Of course, I know
he/she has to meet other requirements to file N470, but they are not what
I want to clarify here.

Thanks in advance for all your inputs.
