Marriage certificate issue for wedding in India

Hello, I am a US Citizen, who got married in India in March 2000. My wife\'s I-130 petition has been approved. The concern I have -
we have a a Religious certificate for the marriage, not a court/registrar certificate. We could not get this, since I am not a citizen of
India, and thus my name does not appear on a \'ration card\' over there. The INS approved the petition without the need for the court
cert. However, I am concerned that the US embassy might not issue a visa for my wife, if the \'court/registrar\' certificate is not
attached.
I would appreciate if anyone can provide any insight, suggestions, pointers regarding this matter.
Thanks.

The US Embassy would not question the validity of the religious cert. if you accompany your spouce during stamping. Also, you can apply for a registrar certificate even today - In that case you should legally the marriage certificate afetr 20 days.
