Marriage after GC

For GC holders who want to marry after they got their GC what is the best way to file I-485 for their spouse? Let's say the partner is already in the US with F-1 or other non-immigrant visa. Ideas, suggestion would be appreciated.

Doh! I'll be eligible for N-400 in 3 years from now. May be we should wait until then. I'm also in the process to enlist in the US military and I've heard that spouses of US servicemen get speedy I-485 processing. So all things considered I think I should wait until I become a US citizen. What do you guys think?

Joe,

What are the processing time for I-130 based on marriage to LPR vs I-130 based on marriage to USC? My fiancee is already in the US.

Thanks

For an LPR, the I-130 for the spouse can take a couple of years.

Joe,
I am also an LPR and my GC was approved in March 2003. So, if I get married to a foreign national, is there any way I can bring my wife to USA in the near future? Also, question about your statement... So, after waiting for 2 years,(after I get married ) would I be able to bring my wife here? Man... this is rediculous... I might have to go back to my country.... I am hoping that there should be a solution for this

Guys... Please... if you any of you have any idea about how to bring a GC holder's spouse to USA, please let me know. I really really appreciate your help!!

Thanking you all in advance!!

There is always the option of getting married to a person who is legally in the usa (example Green Card Holder / Citizen)

There is a lot of unmarried people who are legally here in the usa too!!!!

Any other option?
If the spouse is eligible for and obtains H1 or L1 status/visa then he/she can travel to US while the family based GC is pending. They should maintain the non immigrant status throughout, for around 5-6 years until they are able to file I-485.
