LC approved - I140 denied

I have situtation where my LC was approved and I40 was denied. Can I apply for the adjustment of the status through section 245. I have filed for second LC petition and my visa expries in another 7 months.

I was told if i have my LC approved before april 30,2001, i can apply for the adjustment of the status through section 245. Is that true?

Please advise
 
LC and I-140 denial

LC is the first step towards greencard. It is a must step. So is I-140. I do not know about 245(i) that well so I can not comment on that. But I can not imagine adjustment of status being filed without I-140 cleared. If you have attorney, plz discuss with them. Or read all FAQs here. As regards Visa being expiring in 7 months, plz find out how can you extend year to year since you have LC cleared. Hope this hint helps??
