I have been in the US for the past 7 yrs . I had initally come on F-1 to pursue my PhD. After completion of my Phd I went on OPT to join my residency and then had to subsequently change to J-1. My wife is on J-2

1) As per the "Automatic revalidation " procedure can we we saftely travel to Canada for 2-3 days and be allowed back in the US without a J-1 visa stamp.
2) We are planning to apply for a J-1 visa at a US consulate in September 05 could there be a problem with this.
