I am here in USA on H1B visa. My GC has been applied for by my company about 9 months back and it will probably take more than 2 years for it to come. I wish to get it sooner than that. If I marry a US citizen or a green card holder, can I get the green card sooner. I think there may be problems with marrying GC holder, but citizen is OK. How much time would it take for me to get a GC after marrying citizen. Even if I don't get it immediately, do I have to maintain my H1B status till I get it. Can't I start and work in my own business immediately after that.
Please help. I have no idea about these issues and some of the above questions may be quite primitive, but important for me.
