I am filling out my I-485 paperwork based on marriage to a U.S. citizen. My spouse is currently not working so she is unable to prove her eligibility to sponsor me (based on poverty limit). Therefore, we will have a joint sponsor (my aunt) who will complete the necessary I-864 affidavit of support for me. My question is, does my spouse also need to complete I-864 even though she has no income at this time, or is our joint sponsor the only one who needs to complete this form?
If a joint sponsor is needed, do both petitioning spouse and joint sponsor need to submit I-864?
