Six months after working for my current employer who got my H1B approved (after I changed from F1 to H1 status), I am trying to transfer my H1B to another employer. I noticed that the I94 that came attached to my I797 approval notice does not have an I94 number printed on it. I have not left the US since I got the H1B approval. So I still have the older I94 card that I got while returning to the US on a F1 visa 2 years ago. Do you think it's a mistake that the I94 number is missing or is routine to not provide one for applicants moving from F1 to H1 while they're still in the US ? I've faxed the Nebraksa service center asking for clarification but I don't know how long they take to respond. If anyone has any suggestions, please help.
