I130/I485 Pending - Should I file visa extension?

Hi, I am petitioning for GC for my mom. I applied
3-4 weeks ago. The checks have been cashed, but
I havent got any written notice from INS as yet.
The checks show a new A number for my mom.

My mom is currently on B-2 visa and her stay
expires on Dec 19th.

I am not sure what I should do here? Should I
file appln for extension of visa too? Is that
necessary when I do see a new A number on the
check for my mom?

If I-130 has been approved and I-485 is still
pending, then, is visa extension still required?

I applied to San Jose Sub Office.

She can stay as Pending AOS. Her B1 visa has become invalid once she applied for GC. You cannot extend the B1 visa also. (B1 is pure non-immigrant visa. Since she has applied I130/I-485 she has shown immigrant intent) I do not see any problems.

This has nothing to do with a visa extension.. IF you needed an extention you need one to extend the stay on ur I94.

A visa maybe be valid for 10 years. An immigration inspector is the one that decides how long you can stay here and thats noted on the I94.

If you have filed the necessary AOS papers before the I94 expires you donot have to worry because your status is now "pending" awaiting AOS adjudication

In raw terms visa and I-94 are interchangeable. She cannot reapply for new I-94 using her B1 visa (either in side US or at POE. She needs an AP. ) That is i wanted to say.
