that when I entered the United States via nonimmigrant fiancee visa that my former husband never filed an adjustment of status after our marriage in 1997. We divorced shortly thereafter in the same year due to physical & verbal abuse. I petitioned to remain in the United States through an attorney who had never told me that I had to return my native country. Meanwhile, I had met my now 2nd husband (married 18 months now), who filed immmediate relative petition & adjustment petition in the year 2000. We had just received an INS document stating that I am "statutorily ineligible for permanent status." Does anyone have any legal advice such as waiver information?
