Hi,

I was asylee and got my green card through asylum. Before I went for the green card interview. I was convicted of grand theft and then was lowered to misdemeanor in 2002. PC 487(a). Misd. and I said that to the immigration officer at the interview and showed paper work. I got my greencard and later I had to file for I-90 and I also got that approved. and I have a green card. is it true that they won't deport asylee? and another question can I apply for citizenship? I am also on disability benefits and I haven't been asked to show up at removal proceedings and I know that's because I am an asylee and asylee are exempt from the public charge thingy, isn't that true? But what I really wanna know is it true I can't apply for citizenship?

Thanks,
Y.
