I-94 for TD holder, valid after 21 years old?

Hello all,

I have a question regarding I-94.

The I-94 for my son (20 years old and TD holder) expires on june 18 2016, but his 21 years birthday is on december 8 this year. The question is, I-94 is valid after his birthday or he needs to do a change of status under another visa before his birthday.

The I-94, regardless of the expiry date, is invalid from the day he turns 21. he needs to get another status (student visa springs to mind) or move out of the country.
