I-485 filing and H1 status

My I-140 has been approved and I am going to apply for 485. My H1 is going to expire next week. H1 extension for the 7th year has been applied two months back. Waiting for the approval to come. Can I still apply for 485 or should I wait for the H1 approval to come and then apply for 485 ? Help will be appreciated

----- I think you can apply I-485 with extension filing reciept, talk to your lawyer
