Just an FYI and my interpretation. I have been fortunate to have both my US Senator's office staff calling and speaking with both USCIS staff and Congressional staff at the VSC about my case on a regular basis since it was submitted in late August of this year (the Senators' offices can find out much more details about the case and exactly what's going on, in addition to projected timelines for final adjudication). According to the VSC in mid-October, my case was to be finally processed in mid-December based. However, I just learned today that it will be another few weeks before it is finally processed, even though my case has gone through the preliminary processing and all documents are submitted, meaning no RFEs to be expected. This leads me to believe that the I-485 backlog is worse than expected, perhaps due to the huge number of I-485 submissions right before the huge retrogression hit in October.
