I am confused on how to apply for my spouse on a K3 visa? I know that I need to file an I130 and then send the "receipt" of the I130 along with the I129F application for a K3 visa. After she enters the US with a K3 visa, do I need to file an I485? Any other application I would need to file after she enters?

CR1/IR1 spousal visa is much better than the K3. With the K3 you need to file for AOS when your spouse enters the US...that means more $$$ and a greater length of time until your spouse is able to work/get their GC. With a CR1/IR1, your spouse will automatically become a permanent resident upon entry to the US and so negates the issue of having to file more paperwork/$$/time.

Here guide for CR1/IR1

And also for the K3 should you choose this route

If going the K3, you would then need to do this once your spouse enters the US

With the CR1/IR1.......there is nothing more to file.

Doesnt the I130 take more time than the K3 visa?

Going from reading multiple people's experiences with this route, it appears that the I130 does take a little longer, but only about a month. If getting your spouse over to the US asap is your utmost concern, then the K3 might be the route for you. If saving $$$, paperwork and having your spouse able to work/drive quicker etc then the I130 is the way forward.

Thanks. I got an estimate for the I 130 application from the USCIS website. It is taking them 5 months to process and the K3 visa is also taking 5 months. I will do the I130 only, less money, less paper work, and sametime. Thanks again.

as for the research i have done as i am in the same boat, K3 takes about 5 to 8 months and CP takes 6 to 9, months, if you take the case of the k3 taking 5 months and CP taking 9 months, isnt that a considerable amount of time ?

I would do the I130 alone because I realize how much work is involved with doing the K3. Too much paper work, too much money, and more chances I give the IOs to ask questions.
