How many need a Nationized USA citizen to wait to apply US passport?

Dear Friends:

My son got his Citizen Certificate, he is eager to see his GF in New Zealand.

Per other laywers' saying, once you get that USA citizenship certificate after Oath, it needs 10 business days for National Passport center to inpute the New Nationalized citizen's data?

question: Can my son go to the same day passport issue center to apply his USA passport after 5 business days?

Anybody has such experience, please help.

there is no minimum time to wait for a newly naturalized USC to apply, the Naturalization Certificate is valid from day one (that's a weird advice from a lawyer...)

If your son has travel tickets & airline reservations for a departure date within the next 2 weeks, he can get 1-2 day processing at one of the Regional Passport Agencies: http://travel.state.gov/passport/get/first/first_831.html
But impatience to see one's girlfriend will not likely qualify as "emergency" (as much as I can sympathize :), so expedited PP processing seems more appropriate?
