How long the Finger Print/Bio Metrics is valid?

Hi,

I am waiting on my FBI name check to complete (I-485 pending) and recently applied for renewal of my current EAD. My first Biometrics was done on Feb 2006 and now I got another letter to do so for my EAD renewal. Is this normal? Do you have to take Finger Prints each time you renew your EAD? I thought my first FP was valid for atleast 1 year.

If you had biomtrics done for I485 it was different than what is required for EAD different codes( ASC 2- ASC3) I would think if you received a notice to get it done then i would do it, as long as they are not charging you again,

I would take the FP notice to the Nearest ASC and walk in to see if its required, the EAD biometrics visit takes less time,

Fingerprints are valid for 18 months, I believe. However, like Addie_Goodvibes explained, for I-485 and I-765 they need 2 different types of fingerprints. That's why they want your prints again, not because they are expired.
