Anyone could you please , answer :
how long can you stay Out of Country after receiving GC?
Suppose you go to India afer getting GC. How long you can stay in India ?
I heard that limit is 1 year , in 1 year you have to come back to USA.
But I am not sure. Can someone verify that.

Any your trips & stay abroad has to be temporary in nature. If you are going to be away more more than one year - you need to get re-entry permit.

DaG is correct. You need to have re-entry permit. I know a person who try to enter after one year of absence. His GC was taken away by the officer in the airport and he was given a short period visa to enter into the country and appeal for the GC.

So act accordingly.

check rules regarding possible abandonment of gc

gc is for residing here. there are rules that govern how long u can be away.
i remmebr someone saying 6mo at a time. i for sure know one guy who came once every 6 mo and then left back.

renetry permit allows you to leave for upto 2 years i think. (just verify)

in any case i beleive that there must be no intent to abandon permanent residence (pay taxes,credit card bills,file returns etc) show that your absence was temporarry. search murhty website for article on that

the only way is to become a citizen where u can do what you want (as long as its legal ofcourse)
