How do Canadian Imm find out about US/GC or US imm about Canadian GC ?

Hi,

I saw a lot of messages in which people reported a number of problems
while crossing the border when the US green card was in progress and they
went to land in Canada and then came back. My Qs

1) Is there some special kind of I-94 / visa ( AP ?) which is issued
when one files for 485 ? Is that seen on the passport and hence the
immigration officers are alerted ?

2) Is it possible to find out about the LC/I-140 stages as well when
there is no mark on the passport at all ?

3)I understand that the Canadians stamp your passport as a perm. resident,
is that how the US imm. finds out ?

In my case my prev. employer had filed for I-140 but now I have quit
that job , and since my canadian papers came thru i am just waiting to
land thru vancouver. Just wondering if I even have to mention my current
employer since I have an old H1 ( still valid ) visa and a new H1 approval ?

thanks a lot

tt, there is no way to find out that you had filed for an I-140, they normally find out about the I-485 because your passport shows the stamp of teh indefinite admission (assuming you also have an advance parole), don\'t even mention it to anybody, if you were found (which is impossible), be assertive, and know for sure that you are not breaking any law

Thank you Hayoot,

I am just concerned that even though I have left my prev company
which had filed for I-140, they may not have informed the lawyer
to cancel it ! they were always hoping that I could come back.

anyway thank you again for your help

I-140 is not an immigrant visa, it is an underlying petition, it doesn\'t mean that you are intending to apply for immigration, nobody will know about it
