Help with marriage cert RFE :(

Hi folks,

Received a strange RFE for dependent application where the primary is not yet approved. It says the marriage cert submitted does not show evidence of being registered or recorded. However, we did submit the official marriage certificate in english from the registrar in India. Not sure what else we can submit? Could you let us know if any of you had a similar situation or any inputs/advise.

Nothing to worry about...

Get an affdavit from your parents or your spouse's and also you can get a notary on marriage certificate copy and submit that too. Consult with your lawyer also

Normally the certificate should specify Date of Registration somewhere. It seems your local authority somehow did not specify the Date of Registration line.
Now, one option is going back to local authority and request the certificate in "correct" format. But that can take time and depends which country you are from and their motivation to correct the certificate.
The faster option is providing affidavits. Unlike DOB certificate I believe (but not sure) you and your spouse can provide affidavits (because you both were adults at the time of wedding). You don't need to get it from parents. Talk to your lawyer or search in net.

We also have the same RFE. Our lawyer suggested the following..

1. Get the marriage certificate from the Indian Consulate at SFO.
2. Our earlier registration cert. was only in English, we got another one from India which is in english and native lang..
3. Make sure that when you make copies of these document, enlarge them so that seal is visiable properly on the copies..our lawyer did it..

Lawyer is going to send the RFE reply some time this wk.

Let us know, if you are doing some thing else as well..

submit notarized copy. It should work if it has the date of registration, date of marriage, place of marriage and a registrar seal.
 
thanks for the suggestions. one thing we noticed was the witness signatures were missing in the certificate we had. not sure if that could be an issue?

we are planning to:
a. get the cert with the signatures and enlarge the photocopy and notarize.
b. also submit a notarized affidavit with the cert
c. provide bank statement/joint tax returns.
hope this would be satisfactory.

do let me know if you think the missing signatures could be the problem :( thanks again for the help.
 
Photos

I would suggest you to enclose a couple of copies of your marriage photos also with the RFE ;-) you never know.
