H4 to F1

Hi all,

My husband is in USA on H1B visa.
I have taken the GRE exam and instead of sitting idle at home, i intend to go and study there.I have heard that one can do a full time MS on H4 visa but one is not allowed to work on campus and is even not eligible for scholarships and assistantships while studying on H4 visa.
I plan to apply for MS for the fall 2010 session soon and till the time i get my I20 letter of acceptance from universities, i will go on H4 visa and start my studies. I may have to complete the first semester paying my fees myself
I will then apply for a change of status from H4 to F1 from USA.This way, i will be eligible for scholarships and i will be able to work on campus too.

I want to know that is this possible?
For what time can't i come back to India if i do so?

Hi,
Yes you can go for studies even on your H4. but there are people who will convert your H1 in into F1 which is legally allowed and possible.about coming back to India which is allowed but you have to go for F1 stamping again at the consulate.where you have to depend on your luck.
