H1b Transfer - Is stamping mandatory?

Hi All,
I'm headed to India soon. I've recently had an H1 Transfer from Company A to Company B. I'm not getting dates for interview in the US consulate for stamping of H1 for Company B. Can I return to US with my old company H1 but with the APPROVED H1 transfer petition I - 797?
If yes, what all documentation do I need to provide at Port of Entry to prove I'm employee of Company B?

I don't think that is good idea.Is your previous visa still valid? My suggestion is, get stamping in Canada before you go to India. You can get dates in Canada.
